Sustainable Growing
Growing faba beans boosts biodiversity, improves soil health, and protects groundwater quality. With one of the lowest CO2 footprints among pulses, faba beans naturally convert atmospheric nitrogen into soil nutrients – reducing or eliminating the need for artificial fertilisers.
This process lowers greenhouse gas emissions like CO2 and nitrous oxide, helping combat global warming. Additionally, faba beans reduce nitrate pollution in water and minimise herbicide use thanks to their dense foliage that controls weeds naturally.
Grown on existing farmland within natural crop rotations, faba beans are the eco-friendly ingredient for a healthier environment and a sustainable future.
Sustainable Processing
Consumers want simple, pure foods with clean ingredients – free from additives. Traditional wet fractionation to make protein and starch powders uses lots of water, energy, and chemicals, resulting in denatured products that lose natural benefits and create waste.
At Integra Foods, we use a dry fractionation process that preserves the natural structure of faba bean proteins and starches without solvents or enzymes. This method uses 90% less energy and no water or chemicals.
